NE Caye...still
I’m truly enjoying my adventure down in Belize. I finally feel like I am on the right path. I’m still on the same island, NE Caye of Glover’s Reef Atoll. It’s a trip out here. I’ve never lived so rurally with such simplicity. It’s a very healing island. The elements are ideal for tapping into your inner self. The sounds of the waves, the warm sun hitting your skin, the breeze against your face, the rocking of a hammock, the stillness of diving/snorkeling, the energy of the fish all go hand in hand. The sky is amazing each night. I can see the sun rise every morning from my bed at 5am. The sun sets over the dock and when the sky turns dark, you can see every star in the sky. The moon’s light is bright, which lights up the sand. The sea lights up with electric worms, looking like a light show under water. I’ve been here now 15 days. I do plan on going back to the mainland on Sat. I would love to have a nice, fresh water shower and sleep with some a/c and wash my clothes. We are camping/roughing it a bit here. That’s why it’s so cheap. But it’s amazing at how basic our life needs are. Earth, air, water, and fire. I’ve been teaching one-on-one yoga sessions each morning at 7am. It’s a nice time to practice. When I’m done, I make breakfast, oatmeal and coffee. I lay in the hammock and read for a bit. Then there’s a morning dive that I usually attend. After diving, we have lunch and relax some more. There’s a few little wrecks out on the water you can swim to. I kayaked out to a sandbar a few days ago and snorkeled around the backside. There used to be a house on the sandbar, but a hurricane took it down. So now you can see the structure laying under water with trees and a dive sign. It’s pretty cool. I saw a wall of bonefish, literally around 300 fish! It was amazing! There’s a ton of barracuda and nurse sharks swarming around. But they leave me alone. They are more interested in eating fish than eating me, luckily! :) I’ve made some friends on the island. Well, there’s only one resort on this island and I know all of the employees. There’s about 10 other guests here. It’s very quiet, which is nice to relax but if you want to be active, there’s tons of other things to do. I’m truly happy here. I wake up every morning feeling alive, refreshed, energized and peaceful. I need to start moving though and figuring out the next stage. If I stay here, I’ll never leave and I need a little more umph. I’ll let you know where I end up next...
